The Maryland Addictions Professional Certification Board is a private, non-profit corporation which offers voluntary international and state level credentials to the substance abuse professional. The Board, comprised of certified professionals throughout the state, implements standards, testing and training for certifying addiction counselors, clinical supervisors, and criminal justice addictions professionals. It also approves providers of continuing education training in Maryland.

MAPCB is a member board of the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, providing reciprocal credentialing to addictions professionals in 44 states, the District of Columbia, 2 U.S. territories, and 11 global jurisdictions with memberships in ICRC/AODA, including the U.S. Army, U.S Air Force, U.S. Navy and Marines, the Indian Health Services, the World Federation of Therapeutic Communities, and the U.S. Administrative Office of the Courts.

If you are visiting this site today but are already certified at the State level you may desire a credential that allows you to work in other states without further testing, You may want the prestige that an international credential brings. If so, then you will want to obtain the MAPCB credential. If you have taken the ICRC written test, then you are allowed to sit for the ICRC Case Presentation Method Oral Exam. This is the only oral exam for addictions counselors in the United States and has the reputation of qualifying counselors at the professional level.
